APPEARANCEDescribe in detail what your character looks like in any forms they might take. You can also include things like how they carry themselves, how they talk, how they smell, how good or bad their hygiene and general appearance might typically be, what they usually wear, and anything they would never be seen without. Anything that might help thread partners. SKILLSCharisma: In canon, Kyle is a gifted orator. He doesn’t even have to feel impassioned about a topic to give a great speak. He’s just that good at speeches. He once went out of his way to prove to everyone else that he didn’t hate Caitlyn Jenner to the point where President Obama invited him to the White House. He even brought democracy to Cuba with a moving letter to Fidel Castro. In this AU, speeches will inevitably happen (it’s ingrained in him) and I'd like him to be able to talk his way outside of bad situations within reason. Agility: Kyle is cited as being the best basketball player at his school. Naturally a great deal of agility and overall athleticism is required to make that possible, and it's worth mentioning even though it's a trait for elves. Tinkering: In canon, Kyle is extremely gifted at the usage of electronics and computers. He can hack into government computers, he's the only one in the country capable of fixing the internet when there's a national outage (which ultimately required unplugging the router and plugging it back in), and so on. Obviously this technology isn't available in-game, so this would translate to his ability to tinker with and fix existing items in the setting. Writing: Kyle and his friends (but mostly Kyle) wrote the most disgusting book in existence. When parents found out, they blamed another kid. But it turned out to be so good that it became a bestseller. This skill ties into his charisma and education; he would be adept at letter-writing or anything similar. ABILITIESPsychic: One of Kyle's friends jumped off of a roof into a pile of snow believing he could fly. He couldn't. He got a concussion, and after he recovered claimed that he had psychic abilities. Kyle called shenanigans, saying it didn't work that way, and jumped off the roof in the exact same manner. But as he recovered, an item broke as he got angry, implying he had these abilities. For the sake of this AU, I'd like to limit this to something like premonitions/hunches that are correct or potentially correct more often than not, but Kyle had a tendency to ignore them because he's fairly set in his ways. (In canon, the argument was that it wasn't real, and after that episode it was never acknowledged again.) Healing: in both of the video games, Kyle has the role of a healer during battles. I would like him to be able to be able to use healing magic here as well. He can use the magic to heal minor to grave injuries, but he cannot resurrect. Wind: In The Fractured But Whole, Kyle pretends to be a genderless kite alien who can fly and shoot lasers from his eyes. For this AU, I would like him to be able to control or use wind in localized areas. |
PERSONALITYMoral. Kyle’s decisions and worldview are grounded in the morality of his religion/spirituality and the sense of right and wrong taught to him by his parents. For him, everything has a clear right or wrong, and he strives his best to be an example of that to the best of his ability. Shady bitch. Try as he might to be a good person, sometimes his determination gets the best of him. When he really wants something, he is willing to lie to get it--or technically, make a promise with his fingers crossed behind his back. Self-centered. Kyle loves to be the center of attention. He likes to feel validated and important. He also likes to get his way, and while he often does things to help other people, there tends to be an element of ‘how is this benefiting him?’ Fair-weather friend. He prides himself on being a good friend. And for the most part, he is. To the people he’s close to and cares about, he will generally go above and beyond to help them get out of tough situations that they’re in (or that they’re in as a whole.) But if it’s an issue grounded in emotions? If you’re just feeling really sad, or if you’re having a bad bout of mental health days? Sorry, can’t help, he’s outie, call him when you’re not being a drag. The ends justify the means. You can say he has lawyer blood in him. You can say he’s like his father, who can justify profiting from their community being lawsuit-happy because it means a huge bolster in his income. Try as he might to be a good moral individual, he’s susceptible to compromising his beliefs for the sake of getting money or anything else he might want. He’ll find a way to rationalize why it was okay to do as needed. Intelligent. Kyle is incredibly bright. In canon, he’s one of the few straight-A students in his class, and will pull all-nighters to complete assignments. He is proficient in math and the sciences, with an interest in astronomy,(probably) physics, if you take the poster of Einstein in his bedroom into account, and philosophy. Narrow minded. Kyle has the juxtaposition of wanting the best for other people, unless they’re awful, but also has an extremely narrow view of what is acceptable, or how things should be. He doesn’t cope well when confronted with the fact that some things in life don’t fit in his interpretation of the world around him. Heaven forbid he ends up in a position where he has to cope with being wrong. Being wrong, or otherwise having his worldview challenged tends to result in sulking. Arrogance. There’s also a special sort of arrogance that Kyle possesses. It tends to manifest in paternalistic condescension, especially when he’s in a position where he gets to be a martyr. In the best cases, it’s annoying at best, but in the worst cases, he subconsciously feels justified in being an asshole. KEY EVENTS IN GAME HISTORY- There's a ritual that all elves do when they are quite young, and when Kyle was quite young, the same thing was to happen to his adopted brother. He had been struggling whether his brother truly counted because he was adopted, but he came to the conclusion that they were brothers when he completely misunderstood what the ritual was (and the fact that he'd already experienced it as an infant.) What was mostly harmless and symbolic he mistook as his parents intending to make his brother become dragonborn. In an attempt to save him, Kyle sent his infant brother far away for safety. Upon understanding what the ritual actually was, he and his parents had to go get his brother back. (adapted from “Ike's Wee Wee”) - Once, Kyle and his friends found the broken wand of a wizard in the forest near their homes. Being bored boys, they created a roleplay game around it. They created their own world and created factions. Whomever possessed the wand (“the stick of truth”), controlled the universe. Drama and intrigue ensued. The broken wand still possessed some magic, and behaved chaotically when they handled it. Which made the entire thing even more fun until things got “for real” dangerous and they opted to destroy the wand. (adapted from The Stick of Truth) - In Thalassa, Kyle discovered that his some of his friends were making starving orphans compete against each other for scraps of food. Naturally, he was appalled and intended to tell the adults. That was until he found out how much of a profit they were making. They were able to splurge on foods that Kyle wasn't allowed to eat, and his cut, if he joined, was much larger than any allowance he received from his parents. So he joined. He knew it was wrong and still felt guilty about it, but justified the fact he was benefitting from this by arguing that he was going to be able to fix things from the inside and ensure that the orphans were well taken care of and had a place to live.
